Coto De Caza

The gated community of Coto De Caza is well-planned and comfortable on its spacious 5,000 acres of land. In South Orange County, on the edge of the Saddleback Mountains, Coto De Caza Ca is peaceful and idyllic. The gates are guarded at all times.

Coto De Caza provides many opportunities for recreational pursuits since there is so much green space. Fields and courts for baseball, football, soccer, tennis and other sports are included in the park lands. Golf, swimming and horse back riding are also potential recreational choices. Clubhouses are pleasant oases for recharging after all that healthy exertion.

Large estates and family neighborhoods share the Coto De Caza Real Estate listings. Homes 4 Sale range from a half million to many millions are available now. Living in this community is like resort living with all the amenities at hand. It seems like it is miles away from everything with its borders on the Cleveland National Forest, but Mission Viejo is about five miles away. Many restaurants are at the ready in town.

Right next to the community, with 500 acres of trails and woods, lies the Riley Wilderness Park. The natural resources surrounding the community provide an almost unlimited slate of activities all year round, and scenic vistas are included.

Two 18-hole golf courses keep many residents busy and the Coto Valley Equestrian Center is the place for horse lovers and riding enthusiasts. It is also the former equine event venue for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, so it is well-appointed for all things equestrian. The parks and rec centers also add to the kids' many possibilities for fun.

Coto De Caza began as a working ranch and the Spanish name is loosely translated as "game preserve." The original development plans were for a hunting lodge and a few vacation homes, but the current community accommodates more people. There is a population here of about 15,000, leaving plenty of room for an active life style.

Coto residents decided against having an elementary school within its gates, so the area is served by the Capistrano Unified School District. There are two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school in this district.

The Coto De Caza Golf and Racquet Club command the 36-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. There are three swimming pools in the aquatic center and ten world-class, tournament quality tennis courts. Pro shops for golf and tennis keep everyone stocked with whatever they need.

There are three excellent restaurants in the club serving lunch everyday but Monday. Breakfast is served on weekends and dinner every night except Monday and Tuesday. The featured wine nights every Saturday in the Sala de Festa Grill are fun and informative.

The club also has a spa with a wide range of services with which to pamper oneself. Spa products, facials, massage and body treatments are offered in four treatment rooms. Relax and recharge whenever the mood strikes for a half hour or the whole day. Customized spa days can be arranged for members and guests by request.
